Non-molestation order

Occupation order

An occupation order decides who can live in the family home. It can require an abuser to leave the home and stay away from it and the surrounding area — even if the home is in their name — so you and your children can stay safely.

Can I get protection urgently?

Yes. In urgent cases, the court can make an order without the other person being told first (a “without notice” order), so you get immediate protection. There is then a follow-up hearing where they can respond. If you or your children are at risk, we act quickly to get the protection you need.

LEGAL AID AND COSTS

This is important: legal aid is available for domestic abuse cases, so cost should never stop you from getting protection. It is means and merits tested, but many people qualify.
